Install roofing felt first if you are using it. Assuming the dog house is rectangular and fully constructed except for a roof measure the halfway point on both short ends and mark it. After being medically released from the army they are building an off grid homestead from the ground up. Cover the surface with tar paper and secure it into place with staples.

Building the roof of the dog house. Building an off grid home in the canadian wilderness. Apply only enough staples to hold the paper down until you are ready to add the shingles. Cut a piece of 3 4 plywood at the dimensions shown in the diagram and secure it to the rafters with 1 1 4 screws.

The first two pieces of lumber to affix is the ridge board studs. Make sure you center the plywood piece to the rafters before inserting the screws into place.
